Every day…

My featured image shows my desk… as you can see it is a bit of a mess, but you know what they say about an empty desk being like and empty mind? I haven’t tidied or rearranged any thing, this is just as it is… ok, so I moved the mug slightly, but this is it.

So, my headphones to listen to music or    watch films or TV programmes I’ve missed, two external hard-drives, a teach yourself Icelandic book, a ship’s glass with a round bottom which did have whisky in it, a little green elephant my dear friend Elly sent me as a souvenir of her recent holiday in Sri Lanka, the corner of my tablet, my CD rack (family tree CDs, Cantemir, Ancient Music, Raul Malo, Simon Lynge, Raul Malo, Mavericks, Champion, Ásgeir, Sigur Ros,Simon Lynge, Jefferson Airplane) a picture of Raul from my other dear friend, Hannah, a picture of Jonas carping, a notebook from my Saxlish group, Mrs Beeton and an old Bible, both being used in my next novel, a CD case full of Mavericks, Raul, Nick Kane and Robert Reynolds albums…

At the front, just by my hand, is one of my favourite mugs. it’s half full of Oolong tea (Sea Dyke brand from Xiamen) and I like it because it is nice to hold, it has a nice smooth, shiny glaze, it is an elegant and appealing shape and colour, and the truism is actually true and a useful reminder, ‘Every day provides its own gifts!’

It was given to me when I left work; there was a bit of a party and I was given some lovely things, and Tara who although I liked very much, I did not know that well, gave me this lovely mug. Now every time I use it, I think of her, her generous and thoughtful present, and  the little motto!
